Today on Freecycle (yes,another one!)

So,obviously some people think I am mocking people in "need" who post wants like Stone Mountain Park passes and airline tickets.
Fine,so again to the facts here:
The rules on Freecycle state that Freecyles purpose is to keep things off landfills.So I am honestly asking everyone now to look deeper and ask yourself if you would EVER throw park passes and airline tickets onto the landfill?I wouldn't.Yes,it is OK to ask people for help if you are in need.But will you die or go into the gutter if you can't get airline tickets or park passes?No you won't.Therefore I do not think you should ask people for these things.
Then there is this:
I have send several requests to Freecycle,not asking for anything material or free,but just if anyone had any info to help me with Nine-Eye.I did not ask for a home for him,because I want to keep him,I did not ask for money or free stuff,I simply asked if anyone knew a vet who would come out here (and we would pay that vet) to give him a check up and shots.My post was denied because "animals have nothing to do on Freecycle" and "this has nothing to do with keeping things off landfills,if I let this post through I will have 100 people complain about it".In a way I agreed BUT this dog would have ended up on the landfill (killed by animal control)if I wouldn't have been able to find someone and if it wouldn't have been for all the nice folks from hubby's blog who supported and financed this (the donations came not through Freecycle,they were made by friends of the blog).Eventually the manger of Freecycle did hook me up with someone but that still does not take away the fact that they make NO sense.My post was denied,things such as airline ticket and park pass requests are let through.
Sometimes people have passes they post because they can not use them and rather give them to someone.I find that very generous and considerate and THATS the way you should get them,not by asking!I don't think anyone will run out and buy them for you.
Help should be for the needy.There are tons of needy folks and they honestly do NOT need tickets and passes.They need love,support,food,shelter....etc.But in this materialistic world NO ONE will EVER understand my point!
To be honest I think the whole WANT part should be taken off there.
Until then,I'll continue to have fun with all the greediness.

My answer:No,this world does not have to be ugly and yes,you should be able to reach out for help.You need to consider the NEED.And who tells me it's true?Who tells me it's not just someone who wants to go onto a nice vacation?

Found out today that a good friend is critically ill & not expected
to make it. If anyone has connections to get tickets for
PM flight to St. Louis w/ return 1/31 pm would be a a god send.
It's a 10 hr drive and the prices online are out of our range.

I've been posting that I am preparing for a mission trip to Peru.
My husband suggested we go to Stone Mountain occasionally as it
would be an excellent place to do some hiking to prepare for the
trek in to the canyon near Curahuasi. There are 4 in our family (my
daughter is going to Peru as well) and her best friend is also going
to Peru. So.. if anyone has any sort of free passes for 4 or 5 I
would be VERY grateful. My son is 3. Don't know if that makes a
difference at Stone Mountain.

I am wondering how hard it could be for someone who can afford such a great trip with this many people to pay 50 Dollars for a day pass at a park?
Hiking......at Stone Mountain....DAMN thats a good excuse to get a freebee!

Freecycle gets worse and worse!

I can't believe what people are asking for and what excuses are being used.One post from a few days ago went like this:

"Wanted:Treadmill.
While giving birth to my daughter in September doctors have diagnosed me with a heart condition.I want to make my heart stronger and therefore I need a treadmill.I can't afford a sitter and can't go for walks with my daughter in this weather."

If I may mention that it is in the 70's for the past two weeks and even getting warmer over the next two weeks?So in my eyes you are looking for pitty to get something for free.Sorry!

Then,yesterday there was another of those stupid posts (this is the original post with typos and all left in place)!

"WANTED: VCR, and/ OR nicotine replacement therapies.
K, lol, so here is the low-down, over Christmas two things happened,
kids VCR broke, and couldn't afford to get other(we don't have
cable), so they would love even the oldest functioning VCR.

I made my daughter a promise, that I would quit smoking, and I am
trying, but my supply of nicotine replacements is dwindling quickly,
don't have cash for them, even if I had cash, would use it for their
VCR, lol, ty in advance......oh, p.s, been smoking 14 yrs, cold
turkey is SO not an option w three small kids,lol, sanity is needed."

Don't negotiate with terrorists in the first place and secondly:why the hell would you expect someone else to pay for you addiction?
Why making a promiss you can't keep and then ask others to pay for it?
Kids don't need a VCR to survive and FYI:Walmart has them for under 30 bucks.
If you don't have cable....so what?There is enough on the locals the kids can watch!
Granted,quitting cold turkey is hard but it does work.Patches just keep providing you with MORE nicotine,so you might as well keep on smoking,which is cheaper!DUUUH!
I have three little kids,too,Wellbutrin works great and is a hell lotta cheaper then patches and cigarrets all together!

I don't know why people think this would work.It seems some try to get the total free life out of it.
I decided to continue membership just to have a good laugh and blog material!
